epson printing problem

I have win98se (never been updated with fixpacks) and an epson Stylus
Color 600. previoulsy, the printer was working fine until I added stuff
to the the OS and now it won't print.

This is some of the error messages it gives me.


clicking on spool manager - message says corrupt executable

click on spool manager, it runs for 2 seconds. screen goes blank,
losing video connection temporarily; have to entere a couple of times
to return to desktop. resolution sometimes changes from 1280X1024 to
1024X768. spool manager does not load.

click on a text file and click print from the menu. file loads into
notepad. generates an illegal operation message. GPF in module
eprastr4.dll at 009:000000352

a different error message appears also at anther attempt. "error while
spooling to "", unable to create new spool job.

don't remember what I did to get this error message "cannot start despooler"

I've tried reinstalling the epson stylus 600 drivers and got the same
results.

any ideas on this how to fix this?

What kind of "stuff" did you add to your OS? Windows Updates?

no windows updates tho.

just windows programs like winzip, netscape 7.1, acrobat 5.0, and
colorific (some type of color correction utility that came with the
viewsonic lcd monitor). only the nkvida video, epson printer &
viewsonic monitor drivers were added.

I also deleted an out of date netscape program in there.
