Error printing to USB001, data error (cyclic redundancy check)

I have win98 SE on an authentic AMD-K6 pc, 20GB HD & 128
RAM. I have a new HP psc 2110 all in one printer attached
to it. Sometimes I get a printer error: Error printing to
USB001, data error (cyclic redundancy check). I can't find
anything on this on MS website. It usually prints emails
fine. But today, I opened an email with attachment and got
the above message trying to print the attachment. Then I
tried printing the attachment by right clicking on it and
selecting print and it printed fine. HP tech support
didn't help.
Please advise what could be wrong.
