HP Deskjet color - no red

Hi, my HP Deskjet 4580 (I think, I will have to double check the #) recently took a crap...kinda literally. It started printing mostly green when a color document was sent to it. I noticed that a lot of red ink was spewed out near the carriage resting position. It seems that all the contacts are clean but I haven't tried a thorough cleaning with alcohol yet. BTW The ink dispenser on the cartridge hangs freely and the ink passes through nothing other than the cartridge itself which I replaced (both black and tri-color).

Any suggestions welcome...I really like this printer and do not want to buy a new one. This is the first time it has let me down in over 2 yrs.
