You did install the PPD for this printer didn't you?
At my workplace we have two *identical* (hardware wise) Ricohs (1018D)
on the network and all OS X Macs were able to print just fine to one of
these (using the appropriate PPD). Until a new Mac was installed in the
vicinity of the other Ricoh and I wanted it to print to the other
Ricoh. But no luck, the symptoms were exactly as you describe. There
were no problems getting it to print to the Ricoh that was already
serving the existing Macs. The only difference between the two Ricohs
is the firmware (the unwilling Ricoh having an older version) so now we
are getting a Ricoh tech in to update the firmware. Hopefully that will
solve it.
