My Phaser 6250 has banding about 1/16" apart on photos. Is this normal for
color lasers, or should I be expecting more from it? I'm thinking about
exchanging it for the solid ink printer. Any experience with them?

The solid ink jobby produces much better output (glossy) compared to my
previous QMS one, downsides: i) difficult to laminate output ii) need to
leave it on all the time.

Hi add to the comments by Timothy,

(I have an 860DX). Output is fine (even very good ... but I have little
else to compare it with). In addition to the glossiness of the paper it
also adds a 3d effect because of the ink.

Catches. Unless the printer is used a lot (how much ???) the cyan ink
gets burned and turns cyan brown. The only way is to use 2-3 stix [sic]
of ink and print a lot of pure cyan pages (200-300 pages are needed to
drain the burned ink).

Other features ;-), there is a maintenance kit that has to be replaced
every 10K pages (there are also 40K kits the first of which I used ...
won't give me 40K pages).

If you want quality printing + you will print a lot consider a solid ink
printer.

Regards
Charles
BTW. Get as long a warranty as you can afford, Xerox is(was?) the only
manufacturer to offer warranty up to 4 years. No A3 printing with solid
ink printers.

I think they put a 15 month lifetime on them, so I will have to see how
I feel about whether to get 10k ones or 15 month ones, I do around 25k a
year.

I really hate to exchange this printer, because I'm still not sure if i have
a faulty unit. Has anyone had similer problems with the 6250?
