Buy a cartridge resetter for the type of carts. I guess they are Type 7
and Type 9 (at least, that is the name in Japan) for the MP530.
The resetter connects to a PC with USB for power, and costs about 1500
JPY over here.

Hi,

I'm not in the US so I cannot tell you, why don't you tell the group
what your search results have been? And why do you need to buy it in the
US. The internet spans the globe. You can even ask people to send it to
you if you have Paypal (I would be happy to send a few if needed).

In line with the "what were your search results" question (meaning did you
even bother trying) you could put variations of "where to buy cartridge
resetters for Canon MP530 in USA", for example, into a google and pursue an
answer that suits you. There are any number to chose from and I have nothing
to add concerning one vs. another beyond the readily available evidence of
multiple choices.
Good luck in your search.

Just to clarify: "did you even bother trying" was not what I wrote or
ever intended.

The point was that the OP should post his search results so that it
becomes clear whether he could find something or not. Terminology may be
different, he may not know what he is looking for, or recognize it even
if the searches bring it up.
This is an English newsgroup, but quite a few people, myself included,
do not live any longer in English-speaking countries, and I cannot
guarantee that I know the correct English words either, for the objects
in question. So it is as much for my illumination as for the OP's.

Thanks for the confirmation. Seems the way to go. Hope it works out for the OP.

My mistake - I guess I was having a bad day and was irritable<g>
I certainly didn't mean to be putting into words that which I couldn't know
was your intent.
I monitor this NG to accumulate background info on what's going on and to
occasionally learn something of interest.
<rant>
A _personal_ peeve is when a poster doesn't include any indication that they
at least tried something on their own.
Granted not everyone knows as much as the next but, IMO, after a series of
postings that are narrowing the focus some effort on an OP's part strikes me
as not out of order.
Maybe an "so okay I tried this but it's still not clear could your steer me
...?" would help.
</rant>
Actually, I never really expected the OP to respond but I am sorry I came
across in the wrong way.
Geo.
