enable the Informational events on the Print Folder, File, Server
Properties, Advanced page

at a command prompt or on at Start Run
printui /s /t4

Now print something and check for event 10 in the system event log. Paste
the event contents or if there is any error events paste those contents to a
reply.

I would expect this if this is a newer laptop without a parallel port. But
that brings up the question; How is the device attached to the laptop?
