CANON error U052

Discussion in 'Printers' started by charles cashion, Dec 6, 2010.

  1. My canon printer displays the following message...
    +++++++++++++++++++++++
    + U052 +
    +++++++++++++++++++++++
    + The type of print +
    + head is incorrect. +
    + Install the correct +
    + print head +
    +++++++++++++++++++++++
    I would like to pull the print head, but that does
    not appear to be obvious. Does somebody have instructions
    for safely carefully properly removing that head?

    You didn't say what model printer you have. On my printer you would just
    open the cover to get the print head carrier centered and move the lever
    next to the print head.

    My advice is that you go to the Canon webiste for your country and folow
    the Support link to find the manual for your particular printer.

    You didn't say what model printer you have, but regardless, go to the Canon
    website and Support and you should be able to find the manual for your
    specific printer. It will show how to replace a print head.

    A couple of things:

    1) removing the print head from its holder is not difficult. You should
    be able to squeeze two plastic clips on either side to remove it. Just
    look for removal instructions online, not the Canon webpage which is
    pretty useless.

    2) if the printhead is damaged don't try to put it into another printer
    willy-nilly, and also don't try to put a working printhead into the
    non-working printer without some online search. Some printer models
    (like the MP810) have the naster design error of shorting out either the
    logic board or the printhead if either is not working correctly. So you
    can break your working parts if you are not carefuly. But if you model
    does not suffer from any such known problems, you can swap, mix and
    match without trouble.
