Canon irC2880 is 'grainy' when scanning?

Hi Everyone,

At my work we have a Canon irC2880 MFP which we use for copying / faxing / scanning, etc.

At the moment when scanning it produces a very grainy image, as can be seen below -

If anybody can suggest what might be causing this, and further how to go about fixing it, can you please share?

Hi Everyone,

The plot thickens here, as colour scans come out 'crystal clear'. I did however notice that the B & W scan file format is tiff, whereas the colour scan format is PDF. Is there some way of independently setting preferences for B & W vs. Colour scanning?
