Lexmark X7675 stops responding to computers after paper replacement

This happens inconsistently, but sometimes when I get the notice that the paper has run out, I put paper in, press OK, click OK, do everything I'm supposed to do, and the printer just will not take commands or respond ever until I do a complete reinstall of the drivers and re-configuration through USB cable. I've gone through every suggested step from the installed software, the printer itself, the Lexmark manuals, the website, and even Windows 7; no idea how to just make the printer continue on doing its job.

Any other suggestions?
