PIXMA MG2929 not working on Windows 10

I just bought a PIXMA MG2929 and am trying to connect it wirelessly to my laptop but am having a lot of issues. I can't use the CD that came with the printer as my laptop doesn't have a CD drive and when I follow the instructions which came with the printer, I am having trouble. I downloaded the setup file win-mg2900-1_1-mcd.exe but when I run it, I get a message which says "Acquiring information on the latest driver and software. Please wait." This message has been on my screen for hours and nothing is happening. I have watched the videos Canon has on their website which says that the printer should be on, and the blue WiFi button should be flashing, yet nothing is changing. Can you please help? I do not want to have to return this printer.
