Troubles with my Konica Minolta PAGEPRO 1350W

I have a Konica Minolta PAGEPRO 1350W running under WXP PRO SP2.

I am having two major problems:

1) Since I bought a non-standard cartridge, now every time I print
something, it hangs at the end with a warning window stating that I
should always use a standard cartridge, which I would have done if
they just didn't cost so danged much. If I cancel the window, most of
the time I can print some more, but not always - and it is a headache
to always have to look for and cancel said window - and the printer
will not print further until I do so.

2) When I am printing something, if the printer jams, or if I run out
of paper, or whatever, the XP printer window hangs, saying
'pinting...'. When I delete or cancel the line in the XP window, it
changes to 'deleting...', but it never completes the deed. The only
way I can print another page is to shut down and re-boot, after which
the window's line is gone, and I can print once again. Major
headache!

Cab anyone advise?

Thanks

Jethro

Part one is a "feature" on these printers. There is a chip in the OEM
cartridge version, and it burns out when the cartridges empties. Some
refillers can replace it but because it is proprietary and costly it is
not given away. Any toner cartridge that lacks this chip is "defective"
in the eyes of Konica-Minolta. So the printer is warning you, and it
also slows the movement of the drum between pages. They claim they
cannot assure that the drum will properly clean off excess toner while
it is in use, so they want to give it extra cleaning cycles, etc.

Konica has you coming and going. If you complain about it during
warranty, they can claim your new 3rd party cartridge isn't good enough
for the warranty

If you complain after the warranty is over, they can say its out of
warranty. IMHO, it's just cheating.

I know you can purchase those "chips" on eBay. I didn't mess with it
though. I purchased toner refills, but the printer manager kept saying
replace toner cartridge (because of the stupid chip). I just gave the
printer away to a buddy of mine. Best of luck though.
