Hi

I am running Win7 Premium 64 Bit.

Work Network wireless.

Network location: Work.

I try to connect a Printer to two XP machines but error message says
the right Driver could not be found.

If I open Word on my Win7 machine and click on "Find Printer" the
message says: The Active Directory Domain Service is currently not
available.

Would you have a solution to this problem?

Thank you for your help.
Regards
Helmut

What you have to do is create a Print Share on the Win7 platform such that anyone can
print to it such as \\Win7PC\HP1005M

Each computer on your network would would have to have HP 1005M drivers and point to the
Print Share such as \\Win7PC\HP1005M

Alternatively you could have a Print Server connected to the printer and the network and
each computer points to the Print Server's IP address.

Hallo David and rb.

Firstly, I like to thank you both for your reply and effort.

Secondly, the problem is partly resolved as I installed an additional
driver (Printer Sharing Page).

The "Find Printer message: The Active Directory Domain Service is
currently not
Available, is still coming up.

I don't care too much about this message in the moment so long my
Printers are working because this message may be erroneous.

Wishing you a quiet and peaceful Christmas and all the best in the
coming New Year.

Regards
Helmut

You are going about setting up the printers the wrong way. That is why you get "The "Find
Printer message: The Active Directory Domain Service is currently not Available" type
message.

Go to Printers & Faxes

Add printer.

Choose; A network printer or a printer attached to another computer

Choose; Connect to this printer

Type in the computer name and Print Share name such as the example I gave earlier;
\\Win7PC\HP1005M

When asked for a driver, point to the location where you have the WinXP HP 1005M drivers.

Hi Will

no, I am not running "Active Directory" as this particular machine is
running Win 7 Premium and has a "Work" network.
