Banding in Pixma ip4000 color printing

I have a Canon PIXMA ip4000 printer that is several years old which seems to be performing normally except for banding in the printing of certain colors. I have executed several cleaning cycles with no improvement. I have included an attachment which illustrates the problem. Can anyone tell me where this problem is arising from, and what I might do to solve it? Thank you.
