black ink doesn't work

I've got a HP deskjet 3524.

My printer has not printed any black ink for soem time now. I checked the cardridge, which still has enough ink (it comes out easily if I tap the sponge) and cleaned the inkhead with the automatic procedure several times, waiting at least 30 minutes in between, as the HP site suggested. That didn't do anything, so I mixed some cleaning alcohol (ketonatus 70%) with water (50-50) and soaked the printheads in there for a few minutes. After drying them I put them back and tried to print some things, like the built in checklist. The weard thing is that it often prints a small part of the page flawlessly, but the biggest part of the page stays white (it just prints the bottom most checkbox with line for instance, but that part didn't have stripes or anything).

What can I do more? How do I get my printer to work again?
