canon pixma 2600

for no apparent reason, printer head will move to left but not stay there for replacement.

i also am getting alternating green and orange flashing lights... have removed power, disconnected printer, turned off, waited , turned all back on... same flashing, same refusal of head to remain at left...

any help?

neglected to write that it is pixma ip 2600

Have you checked inside for paper or staples, or anything else that could be obstructing the carriage? Have a really good look, as it seems to be a common problem among Canon printers.
