Can't update firmware for MFCJ875DW

I am trying to update the firmware on a Brother MFCJ875DW. I am using the Brother Firmware Update Tool. The update gets to 90% and then stops. It stays at 90% for several minutes and then says "the connection failed". This happens when I try to update the firmware via USB, wired network or wireless network. If i try to update the firmware via the web interface, it never even gets started.
