I have an R280 and RX580 that I have been using for years. They were working fine last time I fired them up (about 6 months ago), but today, I'm running into a similar issue after replacing inks. The R280 printed a decent test page but yellow was super low, and upon replacing it, I entered this nightmare. I have tried several brand-new, sealed Epson ink catridges, which are old but were working fine previously. Even though the printer "information" button detects the cartridges properly, the printer still insists the yellow and light magenta are not genuine. I've tried a number of things (pulling power while the print heads was moving, removing the cartridges, leaving powered off for more than 10 minutes, etc) and both the R280 and RX580 fail with one or both of those two cartridges. I've inspected the chip contact pins on the print heads and both look perfectly fine on both machines. Bummed to see someone else with a similar problem and no resolution years later. I still have a ton of ink for these machines and would hate to send them to the ewaste yard.
