Epson xp-8605 printing too dark

I have an EPSON XP-8605 that often prints too dark (ie too much ink) when printing mixed text and photos using Publisher. Haven’t tried any other method as this is all I do. It is a new printer just trying to save the hassle of sending it back if it’s something obvious. Can anyone help please ?.
