Various Methods to Fix Epson L3115 Printer Issue

Below are the different methods I used in order to fix my color printing issue with the Epson L3115 printer on my system.

Checked Ink Cartridges

The first step in fixing Epson L3115 not printing color issue is to check the ink cartridges. Sometimes, the ink cartridges may be empty or clogged, causing the printer to not print color. So I Followed these steps to check the ink cartridges:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the ink cartridge cover and remove the ink cartridges.
  1. Check the ink levels in the cartridges. If any cartridge is empty, replace it with a different one.
  1. Then, clean the ink cartridges utilizing a lint-free cloth. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts on the cartridges.
  1. Reinstall the ink cartridges and close the ink cartridge cover.
Turn on the printer and print a color test page to see if the issue has been resolved.

Check Print Head Nozzles

If the ink cartridges are not the problem, the next step is to check the print head nozzles. Over time, the print head nozzles may become clogged with dry ink or dust, causing the printer to not print color. Here's how to check the print head nozzles:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the ink cartridge cover and remove the ink cartridges.
  1. Remove the printhead by pressing the release lever and gently lifting it out of the printer.
  1. Check the print head nozzles for any clogs or blockages. If you find any clogs, use a soft, lint-free cloth or cotton swab to gently clean the nozzles.
  1. Reinstall the printhead and ink cartridges.
Turn on the printer and print a color test page to see if the issue has been resolved.

Update Printer Drivers

Outdated printer drivers can cause a variety of issues, including not printing color. Updating your printer drivers can help resolve these issues. Here's how to update your Epson L3115 driver:

  1. Go to Epson’s official website and install the latest printer driver for your desired printer model.
  1. Now, double-click on the downloaded setup file to start the installation process.
  1. Follow all the on-display instructions to complete the installation procedure. Once the installation process is complete, restart your computer.

Check printer maintenance

If the ink cartridges, print head nozzles, and drivers are not the issue, it's possible that your Epson printer requires maintenance. Performing regular processes of maintaining printers can help prevent clogs and other issues. Follow the steps below to perform printer maintenance:

  1. Turn the printer ON and open the Epson Printer Utility.
  1. Hit on the "Maintenance" tab. Then, select "Head Cleaning" and follow the on-display instructions to perform a head cleaning.
  1. After the head cleaning process is complete, print a color test page to see if the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, try other solutions given below.

Align the printhead

If the printhead is misaligned, then it can result in poor print quality. To align the printhead, follow the below steps:
  1. Press the "Home" button on the printer control panel.
  1. Select "Setup" and then "Maintenance" from the menu.
  1. Select "Head Alignment" to start the alignment process.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the alignment process.

Check the printer settings

If the printer settings are not configured correctly, then it can result in poor print quality. To check the printer settings, follow the below steps:
  1. Press the "Home" button on the printer control panel.
  1. Select "Setup" and then "Printer Setup" from the menu.
  1. Check whether the "Color" option is set to "Auto" or "Color" mode.
If the "Color" option is set to "Black" or "Grayscale," then change it to "Auto" or "Color" mode. Save the changes and try printing again.

Set your printer as the default

Your Epson printer not printing color error may arise if you haven’t set your printer as default on your computer system.

To make your Epson printer the default printer, follow these steps:
  1. First, simultaneously hit the Windows button and "R" on your keyboard.
  1. Your screen will now display a run box. On your keyboard, type "control panel" and hit "Enter."
  1. A control panel window will appear. Click the "Devices and Printers" option from there. Then, find the model of the printer and right-click it.

  1. Next, select "Set as default printer" from the menu.
