IP 3600 Printer Paused

I have an IP 3600 which I use with a 2010 Macbook Pro. My printer regularly spontaneously pauses printing. When I un-pause it, it usually botches the job. Deleting the job from the print cue usually fails to purge the memory properly and I have to reboot.
Any ideas?
