Lack of availability of spare parts

If well known car manufacturer introduces a new car to the market, there was a requirement that there is a resonable supply-chain behind it, to ensure that spare parts are available when (not if), they go wrong. Why are printer manufactures allowed to sell their products knowing full well that, in the event of a mechanical failure there are no parts available and cannot be fixed?
This looks like fraudulent trading, to me !
