MFC-J650DW not printing

I just got this printer from someone else. I set it up on our wireless network. I can print a test page, web pages, PDF pages but I can't print from Notepad or Quickbooks. What can the problem be?
Also I would like to copy color pages as black and white. How do I do that? It will only copy as color?

I found the answer to my questions. This printer had been sitting for several months. I put in new cartridges bu the black printhead must of been all dried up. I ran the black printhead clean and now it is printing. I can also copy pages in just black and white. Problem solved.
