My Lexmark cartridges are always drying up. According to a repair technician I was talking to in a shop, and something I predicted in the 90s having used a fountain pen in the 70s, manufacturers recommend printing a couple of pages every week or two to keep the heads clear. So I decided to fill my black cartridge with Quink ink and it's been working fine for the last 8 months or so. I hadn't used the printer for a couple of months, but unlike a normal cartridge, the heads weren't clogged when I used it to print last week. This is a photo of a photocopy I made with the printer. The ink mightn't be as black as the real thing, but it's good enough for printouts on standard paper. I haven't tried it on photo quality paper yet.
