PIXMA MG5300 software

I have a 3-month old PIXMA MG5300 and installed the software via the disc supplied. (QH7-6034-01)

I use an HP Win8 64bit PC.

All was well for a while and now I find that all the labels on the installed programs are blank!!

They were there but now the label appears below the cursor but no description.

I have tried re-installing disc but no different.

Any ideas gratefully received
