Our Brother 8890DW works well.

But, for some reason, every few minutes (ten or so) it makes a whirring sound as if it's about to print, and then stops.

I've tried turning off all reporting (fax).

I have no idea what's happening.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

The printer toner unit may cause the grinding or clicking noise.

->Power off the printer and open the front cover.
->Remove toner unit and close the front cover.
->Power the printer back on.

If the grinding or clicking noise dose not occur when the toner unit is removed from the printer, then the toner unit is the cause of the noise. Install a brand new toner and/or toner cartridge may be necessary to stop the noise.

If the grinding or clicking noise still occurs with the toner unit removed then this indicates a problem with the printer
