I have a Canon 926 which has been a great printer for my needs but now it has started to print photos with a margin of 1cm on the leading edge and no border on the trailing edge. How to alter the defaults and save them?

Did you change brands of photo paper?
Is paper sized to same dimensions as you always used?
Did you adjust paper guides in tray to fit new paper.?
What photo application do you use to print photos?
What size prints do you have set?
Is printer Canon Pixma MX-926?
What OS do you use?
Sounds as though paper is oversize or paper tray sliders not adjusted properly.
Regards

The settings are for A4, using Windows photo viewer, MX-926.
I tried printing one on plain paper and it was perfect, it just seems to happen with
photo paper (Kodak Premium Photo Paper) so it looks like it may be a problem
with the pickup.

Paul: You might try another brand of non-glossy photo paper.
Perhaps glossy stock slips under rollers.
Perhaps Spring tension on roller bar or rollers has lessened. Replace spring or springs.
Maybe rubber rollers contaminated or otherwise need cleaning.
Paper guides in tray must be slightly loose. Paper not held too tightly
That about all I can think of. We would be interested in your findings

Meant to say, do not use alcohol to clean rollers. Will harden the rubber. You want rollers to remain soft, hopefully.
Check those sliding paper guides in the tray. Must be slight clearance width and length. I suppose Canon brand
glossy photo paper will fail to transport properly through printer as well. Good luck. Let us know

Changed settings and got a better result, not quite right but better. How do I change the default settings and save them so that they will stay changed? I have also cleaned rollers .

Change "Default Settings"
Click "Start" -> Control Panel -> Click "Devices and Printers" option.
Right-click on the "Canon MX926 Series Printer" icon and select the "Printing Preferences"
Click the tabs at top of window to navigate between different settings
Make desired changes to the default printer driver settings
Click the "Apply" button at the bottom of window to overwrite default settings with your new changes.
Click the "OK" button

Thanks for that, I must have missed something before as it always returned to the original settings each time I turned the printer on.
