Sharing my HP Deskjet 6540

Hi everyone,

I have my printer connected to my desktop (which is directly plugged into my wireless router). I want to share my printer with my wireless laptop. I know that I have to have my desktop turned on to share the printer with the laptop. I have installed the software on both machines. When shared the printer it disappeared from my printers list and does not appear on my laptop. Any suggestions?

What OS is running on the Systems?

As you correctly said in order to share a printer, you must first enable Print and file Sharing on the First PC, then Enable the printer to be shared. You then Access the First PC from the second (Using \\<PC-Name> or \\<IP-Address> IE \\Printserver or \\192.168.1.2 You should now see on screen a collection of icons, one being the printer you shared, simply right click and select connect. You will have to install a driver for it.

Im sure there are some more illustrated guides on the interwebs somewhere
