Trying to use Brother Scanner on mfc9970cdw

I have a new Brother Scanner and have tried for over 3 hours to make the scanner work. I am not even able to take the Upper Case letters to Lower Case. After putting in the entire email address trying to scan to my Apple Lap top it stops after about 12 characters. I have been able to print from my laptop and ipad, able to send and receive a fax but cannot send emails or scan anything at all. Does anyone have any suggestions? Again, I'm using Apple products if that should make a difference. Thanks! Carol

I am not very familiar with Apple products but if you're using window, the ff should be done (maybe you could make use of this if there's something similar):

First, remove the drivers and unplug the multifunctional. Do a reboot and install the drivers again. Reboot and plug in once more.
