I've experienced this very same problem and am happy to say I have found a successful resolution, mainly gleaned from reading other forums, in particular community.usa.canon.com/. The problem is caused by the Windows 24H2 upgrade and doesn't just affect Brother Scanners. I had already done all of the steps described above - uninstall/re-install, installation of KB5048667, checked for firewall restrictions/conflict with anti-virus etc. The procedure (for the Brother MFC-J6930DW) which worked for me was: 1. Create a restore point 2. Uninstall Brother utilities using the Tools - Uninstall within Brother Utilities 3. Download and run the Brother Uninstall Tool - available from support.brother.com [this step might not be absolutely necessary but I did it anyway] 4. Restart the computer 5. Download and install the full Driver & Software Package for the MFC-J6930 6. Open Device Manager, (right click on the Start Menu) and expand Imaging devices. Mine has two entries - Brother MFC-J6930DW and Brother MFC-J6930DW LAN. 7. Right click on each of these in turn and disable the device. Then right click on each in turn and click Update Driver. Select 'Browse my computer for drivers' then select 'Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer'. 8. For the device Brother MFC-J6930DW the options were 'Generic Software device' or 'WSD Scan Device' - I chose the latter and clicked on Next. 9. For the device Brother MFC-J6930DW-LAN the only option was Brother MFC-J6930W LAN. 10. The outcome in each case was 'Windows has successfully updated your drivers' 11. If you have more than one device under Image Drivers then I think it's important to update both, as described above, although I suspect in my case the Brother MJC-J6930DW LAN is the important one as the Brother Printer/Scanner sits on the network. 12. Create a restore point and reboot This procedure has definitely worked for me, I hope anyone making use of it has the same outcome.
