• Material: A thickness of around 3.5 to 5 mil works well for most food and retail products. It gives good durability and a premium feel.
• Finishes: Matte finish is a popular choice because it looks clean and doesn’t show fingerprints easily. Glossy finishes can be eye-catching but scratch more easily.
• Printing: For long-term quality, rotogravure printing holds up really well—colors stay sharp and don’t smudge. For small batches, digital printing is great and getting better every year.
• Sustainable options: There are now recyclable Mylar materials and even some compostable films, though they can be a bit more expensive or have design limitations.
