Will not print black & white

Hi I have an XP412 and was happily printing documents. The black ink ran out so I replaced the cartridge, did all the instructions after replacement, nozzel check, alignment etc. Went to print next document which was black text and all that came through was a clean sheet of paper. No Printing on it. If I changed the font colour of text to say Blue of the script it would print o.k.
By letting the black run out Have I damaged the print head somehow??? Any advice. also will not copy at all, just plain paper comes through

You can try numerous cleaning cycles to clear dry clogs.

Dont let your ink cartridges run dry.
Use only OEM Epson ink cartridges.
