Xerox Phaser 6280 116-324 Controller Error.

Xerox Phaser 6280 throws a 116-324 Controller Error message ONLY when I connect an ethernet cable to the printer. I have tried several ethernet cables with same result....printer stays on about 2 minutes and then WHAM!!...the error message, also telling me to restart the printer. I am currently connected and operating with a USB connection, no issues. I downloaded a "fix" from Xerox but it did not solve the problem. I have ran the printer using ethernet for more than six years with no issues. Any other ideas on how to resolve this would be appreciated.
