Brother HL-L3270CDW - Resolving "No Toner" Error Lockout

Oct 6, 2021
Your HL-L3270CDW displays the infamous "No Toner" error after years of service and you (sensibly) use aftermarket toner cartridges and you have not updated the printer's firmware to a rev greater than Main v1.27/Sub1 v1.10... begin your t'shooting by replacing the black (K) toner cartridge.

If that does not clear the lockout...
Connect the printer to a computer and install the full installation (Brother driver and "iPrint&Scan" software combo package); open "Brother iPrint&Scan"--the software will immediately display the toner status. Replace any toner carts displaying an "X" in their respective icon.

If that does not clear the lockout...
Check the firmware version. If the firmware rev is greater than Main v1.27/Sub1 v1.10, you will need to downgrade the firmware to rev Main v1.27/Sub1 v1.10, or lower. Files and procedure forthcoming.
