Delayed printing

My HP 6500 networked printer does not respond immediately. when I click to print it normally takes 10 minutes at least to print. it often takes half an hour before i hear the sound of the printer. doe anybody know why?

Sounds a likely a possible answer to the problem. I have tried it , but it gets a wee bit techie for me at some point. I will refere it to wifeee when she is less busy. Either i will post an update.
