I get an 'invalid' message, when trying to scan to my laptop, using Epson ET-2760 printer

I have my Epson ET-2760 connected to my laptop with a USB cable and it shows as being connected; however, when I try to scan something, with the intention of sending it to my laptop, at the step where I try to select the computer via the printer screen, after selecting 'USB Connection,' and pressing 'OK,' it show 'invalid' on the screen. I went to Epson's website and downloaded, then installed, the driver package, but that didn't help. Any ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
