Multifunction printer-scanners as good as dedicated scanners?

Our HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer (E710n) (2010) has finally died.

We are only wanting to scan basic documents and photographs a few times per year, so just need something decent, cheap and cheerful.

As of now, the cheapest dedicated scanners in the UK are the:
  • Canon CanoScan LiDE 300 (2018) (£50)
  • Canon CanoScan LiDE 400 (2018) (£68)
  • Epson Perfection V39 (2014) (£82)
However, the cheapest multifunction devices are:
  • Canon PIXMA MG2550S (2016) (£25)
  • Canon PIXMA MG3650S (2016) (£30)
  • Canon PIXMA MG3050 (2016) (£34)
  • Canon PIXMA TS3151 (2019) (£38)
  • Canon PIXMA MX475 (2015) (£40)
I am guessing the multifunction devices are cheap because they expect to get their money via. the cartridges but we don't need to print, we'd only be using the scanner functionality.

Presumably, the scanners on the combination devices aren't as good as the three dedicated ones listed above either but if so, how much worse are they?
