my Pro9000 Mark II will not print green or red when I print a nozzle check

My green cartridge was empty. I replaced it and did a nozzle check 3 times after cleaning. still no luck. At the same time, the red wasn't printing so I changed the cartridge. still wouldn't work after a round of cleaning. Tried another new cartridge.
Now I'm wondering if the print head needs cleaning? I used to use printer a lot but not much in the last year. Suggestions, please?
