print head gets "jammed" Brother MFC-J5910DW

Hey guys, I got gifted a Brother MFC-J5910DW and it was working for a bit but has suddenly started giving me a paper jam error on boot up, even though I've checked for paper several times. I noticed the print head wasn't moving properly and does a jaming movement, when going across. I've tried to clean the encoder strip for now, but it hasn't really helped. Any suggestions on how to get this one running again? Thanks in advance!
