Best printer for badge graphics - inkjet vs laser

I require a really good printer for button badge graphics and don't know whether to go for a laser or stick with inkjet - I'm using a canon pixma at the moment, but I'm getting lines through block colours (it's great for detailed images though) wondering whether I should use a laser for simple graphics printing and the inkjet for more detailed work? any suggestions?
