Blotch printing issues

Hi I have an oki ES9431 and I'm having issues with blotchy print. Could it be because my paper is old or the moisture in the air effecting the paper and therefore the ink coverage?
Just looking for an answer as to why this is happening.
Thanks in advance for anyone sharing their experience with me on how to correct this.
