Brother Printer - All Three LEDs On, Printer Not Working

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my Brother printer (model [insert model here]). All three LED lights (Error, Ready, and Data) are solidly lit, and the printer is completely unresponsive—it won’t print or react to any commands.

I’ve already tried the following troubleshooting steps:

Turning the printer off and on again

Unplugging it for a few minutes and reconnecting

Checking for any paper jams or toner issues

Trying a different power outlet

Despite these efforts, the issue persists. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve run into this kind of issue before with a Brother printer here’s a step-by-step you can try:
  • Do a full reset – Turn off the printer, unplug it, then hold down the Go or Cancel button (depends on model) while plugging it back in and turning it on. Keep holding until all lights flash, then let go. This sometimes forces a reset.​
  • Check for a stuck print job – Go to your PC’s printer queue and make sure there’s nothing jammed up. Cancel everything and try again.​
  • Try a factory reset – Look up the steps for your specific model to do a factory settings reset. Usually involves a combo of buttons while powering on.​
  • Check the drum/toner placement – Even if you don’t see an error message, if the toner or drum isn’t seated properly, the printer can hang.​
  • Firmware update – If you can access the Brother support site, see if there’s a firmware update for your model. Sometimes a bug gets fixed in those.​
