Epson 1500w not recognising one cartridge

Hi guys,
I have a 1500w converted for sublimation. The sub cartridges are in a block, I get a solid ink light (not recognised). On all 6 ports.
So I brought some standard ink cartridges it recognises them all one by one but as soon as I put all 6 in it dosnt recognize any, for example if I put 5 in it's fine (just didn't recognise the empty slot) as soon as I put the 6th one in it dosnt recognise any. It dosnt matter which slot I leave blank.
Any help as to what's going on?

This is something that drove me nuts for years but I detailed the most likely cause and potential fixes here (with attribution):

In our case the problem was always soiling on the ribbon cable going into the printhead that shorted out or degraded the metal "wire" so that it basically failed.
