epson stylus photo 1500w printing really slow.

hi all, I'm new to the forum and hope someone can help me with my problem.
I have just bought a new epson stylus photo 1500w.im running windows 10 on a dell xps 8700.
my problem is the printer is taking a ridiculous time to print any photo at all. its taking over 10 mins to print off a A4 image.
my previous printer was a canon pixma ix6550 and I never had problems like this.hope someone can help as I'm starting to regret buying this Epson printer.
