Epson 3490 Perfection Scanner issue

Hi out there - borrowed my mates Epson 3490 Scanner to move a large slide collection to my Imac. Its running OS 10.11.6 , downloaded the recommedned Epson scan software from the Epson site. While the scanner is recognised and works I can only use the 'preview' function, the actual 'scan' button seems to be inactive so i can't actually transfer the slides to my make , can only look at them in preview setting.

Any clues why? Cheers
