Epson ET-4500 - second page of ADF always gives Jam error

The first page scans fine - the second page goes through scanner over halfway, but then all stop for paper jam. There is nothing obstructing, and this happens with all sorts different originals being fed. Even with just 2 pages in feeder - or more. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
