Epson P800 Maintenance Cartridge Issue

So the instructions say that when it's time to replace the cartridge that I should lift up slightly and ten pull the cartridge straight back. When I try to lift up, it does nothing. When I try to lift up with all the force I can apply, it does nothing. When I used a screwdriver for some leverage, I hear the plastic start to crack, but the cartridge doesn't budge.

Ay ideas?
