Epson RX700 Problem with inserting a cartridge

Recently, one of the cartridges in my RX700 ran out. I expected to spend the usual 10 seconds or so replacing it, but hit a problem. For some reason, the cartridge will not click into place - when pushed in it just pops right back out again. I've tried more than one cartridge but with same result. I even tried wedging it in place so it doesn't spring back out but this was ineffective. I have tried to see if there is something stopping the mechanism working correctly, but I can't see any reason why it won't stay in place.

Any suggestions?

Sorry can't help with this one. I have had Epson for many years and never ran across this issue.
