Epson won't print MS works

I bought an Epson printer a while back but it will not print anything from Microsoft Works. Admittedly it is an old programme, MS Works 4.5a but a very good programme nonetheless, and one I use a lot. My Canon printer, the one I bought the Epson to replace, has no problem printing from this programme, so why won't my expensive Epson printer do likewise? The printer is an ET-2810. I have tried to report this problem several times to Epson but they have just ignored me. I have had several Epson products over many years but I won't be buying any more from them if this is the best they can do
