Faulty paper jamb Epson XP420

My 420 printer started telling me of paper jambs. I looked and saw none. I’ll cut to the chase. If I put 1 sheet of paper in the tray, and tell printer to print “ nozzle alignment “ page. The paper will start. Then I get messages of jamb. And the single sheet of paper comes spittin out. No ink on paper. Ink is full. I thought firwear faulty. Epson website says “ can’t update” I can’t figure it out. Help
